Overview

The Arab Forum for Sustainable Development (AFSD) brings together Governments and a broad range of stakeholders to discuss progress on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), review national experiences, and enhance the region’s voice at the global High-level Political Forum (HLPF). It is organized annually by ESCWA, in collaboration with the League of Arab States and United Nations entities operating in the Arab countries.

AFSD-2025 will be held from 14 to 16 April 2025 at the UN House in Beirut, Lebanon. It will discuss inclusive, science- and evidence-based solutions for the 2030 Agenda and its SDGs. AFSD-2025 will focus on the five SDGs under review at the 2025 HLPF (New York, 14–23 July 2025), namely SDG 3 (good health and well-being), SDG 5 (gender equality), SDG 8 (decent work and economic growth), SDG 14 (life below water) and SDG 17 (partnerships for the Goals). The regional context of conflict and crises will frame the discussions. The Forum will also constitute a regional platform to discuss regional priorities and implementation of the Pact for the Future.
